Travel Photo Thursday: London Bus Tour Photographers

One of my favorite quirky photo subjects is photographers. I love taking pictures of people taking pictures. I suspect this is a bit of a self-defense mechanism that allows me to take photos of strangers without fear of retribution because a) they are also tourists trying to get some nice pics on their travels and b) they probably are too busy taking their shot to notice me taking their picture.

Logically the best places to get pictures of people taking pictures are those sites that are more touristy and what better tourist magnet is there in London than the hop-on hop-off double decker bus tours! We hopped on the Original Bus Tour [www.theoriginaltour.com] because we were travelling with some friends who had never been to London before. At £26 the bus tour was fairly pricey but it was a good way to quickly see the major sights of London such as the Palace of Westminster.

You can also see Tower bridge.

And if you’re really lucky you can catch two lovebirds taking a self portrait at Piccadilly Circus, although I’m not sure what is so romantic about the back of a Road Closed sign.

This post was submitted to Travel Photo Thursday [budgettravelerssandbox.com], a weekly collection of travel photos hosted by Budget Traveler’s Sandbox. Check it out for more great photos!

Update: Due to popular demand here is a bonus picture of the Road Closed couple checking out their self portrait. Because I couldn’t stop to ask their permission I won’t publish any pictures showing their faces.
