According to the Disney Parks Blog, the World of Color will officially open on June 11th!
World of Color is a nightly water show that will take place in the California Adventures lagoon. This show is the latest in a major set of upgrades intended to (re)vitalize Disney’s California Adventures park, the less popular sibling to the original Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
With over 1200 fountains, the show will include lasers, fire, lights, and water screens as popularized by Disney’s Fantasmic show. A test run of the attraction was captured by a guest staying in the Grand Californian on April 6th this year, with photos and video posted at laughingplace.com.
While I assume that most of the larger elements of the show should be viewable from many locations in the parks and nearby hotels, there is a viewing amphitheatre that can hold 9000 standing guests. According to Al Lutz of Miceage, Disney is planning to use the old Fastpass system from the Grizzly River Rapids ride to issue “Showpass Tickets” to the amphitheatre. If you must be one of the first to see this you should get there early to grab your spot.
