For our upcoming trip to Hong Kong we will, of course, be spending some time at Hong Kong Disneyland. Hong Kong Disneyland is still fairly small and can be easily seen in one day; however, when travelling with kids it is always nice to allow for an extra day. Despite the fact that transit from the city to Disneyland is very easy, we like to spend one night at the Disneyland Hotel just to soak in the atmosphere.
Tickets to Hong Kong Disneyland are sold either as single day tickets or as annual passes. The annual passes come in Value, Deluxe, and Premium versions, the cheapest being valid only on weekdays with some blackout periods, another with weekday and weekends including some blackout periods, and the most expensive being valid anytime without blackout dates. The Hong Kong Disneyland hotel is also offering a Stay2Day promotion explicitly aimed at getting people to overnight at the hotel.
As we are planning to go just on the weekdays anyways, we will use the Value annual pass for this comparison.
1 day pass:
- Adult $350 hkd
- Child (3-11) $170 hkd
Annual pass (value):
- Adult $650 hkd
- Child (3-11) $460 hkd
Stay2Day Pricing:
- Adult $398 hkd
- Child (3-11) $288 hkd
As it turns out, the Stay2Day pricing is ideal if we plan on staying for 2 days since we are only paying an extra $48 for adults and $118 for kids for an extra day. If the price was right I would have considered going with the annual pass just to give us the option of heading back up to the park anytime during our trip, but while the pass is a pretty good deal for adults, it’s much less of a good deal for children. I think we’ll probably stick with the Stay2Day passes.
