Flights of Fantasy Parade at Hong Kong Disneyland

This is my first entry into the Wordless Wednesday Disney blog hop hosted by Focused on the Magic. The theme this week is Attire or Costuming. Right away I thought of the amazing costumes in the Flights of Fantasy Parade at Hong Kong Disneyland.

The Flights of Fantasy parade was introduced in 2011 as part of the Celebration in the Air theme and was a huge upgrade to the original parade that had run since the park opened in 2005 [wikipedia]. The original parade, called simply Disney on Parade, was focused on the characters. The supporting cast mostly wore colourful coveralls.

Here are some of my favorite costumes from Flights of Fantasy:

Flower Dresses Hong Kong Disneyland Parade

These flower dresses are actually supported by domed frames and have wheels at the bottom.

Fancy Dancers Hong Kong Disneyland Parade

These fancy dancers managed to twirl down the parade route despite the enormous dress. I wish I framed this a little wider to get the whole costumes in the shot but I was shooting with a 50mm fixed lens.

Scooter Fairy Hong Kong Disneyland Parade

This scooter fairy got to actually ride around and didn’t have to walk or dance.

Lightyear Cheerleaders Hong Kong Disneyland Parade

Buzz Lightyear cheerleaders. That is all.

Tigger Team Hong Kong Disneyland Parade

Tigger has his own team of cheerleaders including some on bouncy stilts.

    • Tokyo has an amazing pair of parks and Hong Kong will be great once the expansion projects are done. There’s a good chance that I’ll get to visit Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Anaheim this year so hopefully I’ll have some good pictures to share!
