I usually shy away from writing negative reviews on this blog. I’m a believer in not saying anything if I don’t have anything nice (or funny) to say. The exception to that rule is when I come across a product or service that is so bad that I feel duty bound to make sure that my small but loyal band of readers does not get ripped off.
As you may know, I recently took a trip to the Disneyland Resort for New Year’s Eve. Christmas and New Years are the busiest of busy periods at Disneyland so hotel prices are pretty high. While we were there we came across The Cozy Cone Motel, a nice new looking little place that, while very basic, was in an amazingly central location.
I tried looking at Yelp and TripAdvisor to check the reviews but for some reason I couldn’t find it. At first I thought it was just because the place seemed pretty new. Maybe this is a new hidden gem?! The No Vacancy sign was up but I thought I’d pop in to check the rates and maybe see if I could book a cone for my next trip.
Unfortunately there seemed to be some race car out front so there was a huge crowd and some ropes blocking the entrance to the office.
I made my way around back to try to get the attention of the proprietor but the back doors were locked and there was no one in the office. The only sign of life was a little cone with robotic legs sticking out from underneath.
While I was in the back I took a look at some of the “cone rooms”. Let’s just say they were small. So small that I forgot to take a picture of them. I did get a shot of this nice Cone street light though.
So I’m a pretty easy going type. I can understand why they might lock up the office for a few minutes when there is a celebrity out front. I decided to check out the rest of the town and come back later. Well I came back 3 or 4 times over the next couple of days and it was the same story. I even came at night after the celebrities were gone and still not a single person was working in the office. How do they expect to make any money?
The only nice thing that I managed to find was this yummy cookie, but I had to get it at the shop next door. They also had a lot of No Parking signs around. There didn’t appear to be any street parking at all in the whole town!
Anyways, take it from me that this is not a hidden gem. It has no reviews because they don’t bother to offer anyone a room. If you are ever in Radiator Springs don’t even think of staying at the Cozy Cone. Based on my experience, even if you do manage to get one of their teeny tiny cone rooms I’m certain the service will be terrible.
I’m sharing this with my friends at RWeThereYetMom, Focused on the Magic, and Delicious Baby to make sure they don’t get scammed by this place too. Those friends have lots of nice pictures if you want to stop by for a visit.
